Are you guys going to do T-shirts? I want one! I'll pay for it in advance if you need the $ before going to the printer.

Re: Whoop Ass Girls
Thu, January 1, 2004 - 6:31 PMI'm focusing on a few other things right now [not the least of which is setting up Egeria for the Fire Opera at the Crucible in mid-Jan!]
I'm thinking I might wait to print them when the show comes out in Sept. I'll be printing them myself, since Liam [Hot Metal's sweety] has silk screening stuff! Maybe we'll have a shirt-priting party just before the show?
I'll certainly keep you posted!
Kiki
PS I heard from the Amphicar guy [he has an amphibious car that had a cameo in the show] got word that his [the last] episode will be Sept 14... Which might indicate that the show *might* begin during bman, if they show each of the three hour segments each week. :( [Or maybe it'll be a big marathon showing...?] -

Tue, January 27, 2004 - 2:08 PMRealisitcally, I'm thinking of making the shirts for the showing in Sept. Just don't see how I have time to devote to it. I also need time to recover from the experience and get some pink outta my life... :)

Re: Whoop Ass Girls
Wed, January 28, 2004 - 2:59 AMI think it's classic how the middle-chick is holding-up measuring devices, in the artwork on Kiki's profile.
Funny how the measure-twice-cut-once credo is so ingrained and critical, to "duh!" status in the womens process... and so easily discarded in the man's.
Honestly not trying to be flamey with gender-bias... though had a funny conversation the other night about it. I commented that the interior spaces in this one warehouse in SF were shottily assembled, and my commentary devolved into a full rant... and the guy said "only a girl would really care about that stuff in a run-down artist space."
Of course, only a guy would follow-up that observance of my observation, with the side-note of "that's so cute!" -

Re: Whoop Ass Girls
Sun, February 1, 2004 - 9:58 PMActually, we each tried to hold tools that illustrated our "roles" in the team. Hot Metal was the welder/fabricator, so she's holding a flaming torch. Wendy is the "car babe" so she's holding a wrench and a socket. I'm the geek, and we couldn't think of anything "geeky" and also interesting in silhouette profile, so the measuring tools were the best we could come up with.
Kiki -- only a geek would devolve that kind and flattering posting from Nina down to it boring component parts. :) -

Re: Whoop Ass Girls
Tue, February 3, 2004 - 5:05 PMI saw a cartoon I liked a while ago. It had a lady speaking to her boss saying "Of course I don't look as busy as the men. I did it right the first time."
I used to bring in union reps to talk to my class about careers. Both the pile drivers' rep and the millwrights rep commented that they like to hire women not only because they are generally more safety conscious, but they also seem to take greater care in their work. I told them that that's because our work is scrutinized 10 times harder and if you fuck up, it takes a lot longer to live it down! -

Re: Whoop Ass Girls
Tue, February 3, 2004 - 5:07 PMHow true is that?!
Oddly, I think most women just invest more in "doin' it right" and with proper care... though true true... I never did put it into my mental foreground tho, that "If I f*ck this up, I'll be judged much more harshly then my male counterparts."

Re: Whoop Ass Girls
Tue, February 3, 2004 - 5:09 PMno no... so, if it were all men in the poster... the "geek" figure would be holding a chainsaw, piledriver certification, or a ft.-lbs. torque-wrench to assert his non-small penis encompassing the lackluster niche of tallent... ? -

Tue, February 3, 2004 - 6:30 PM... something that probably offended you. If so, sorry!!! No anti-men sentiment intended... just rather musing at the fun stereotypes that identify gender differences. -

Re: Whoop Ass Girls
Wed, February 4, 2004 - 8:48 PMHey Mike-
Don't get your panties in a ruffle, hon!
Here's a joke my boss (who was a woman) on my very first job site taught me.
Q: Why do men like women with big tits and little vaginas?
A: 'Cuz they've got big mouths and little peckers!
